My good friend Michelle is getting married to her college sweetheart, Steve, in the beautiful state of Connecticut this summer. Since she was here in Orlando for a trade show last week, my husband Stephen and I got to meet up with her for dinner on Friday night. During the course of the dinner, we talked about her upcoming nuptials and she commented on the fact that wedding blogs are *everywhere* and that as soon as she got engaged, she was bombarded.
Later she posted this article on wedding trends, and I wanted to get the thoughts of my readers, too. Are these trends still in vogue, or are they going out of style? Do you agree with the assessment of any of these?
Let us know what you think!
Since you saw my post about over-done wedding trends on Google+, I'm sure you must know how I feel. For the most part, I agree with that article.
ReplyDeleteI have no interest in offering my guests handlebar mustaches on sticks to pose with in pictures. Also, I think photo booths, in general, are on their way out.
Deciding on wedding favors is plaguing me, but only because I've convinced myself that they're necessary. The more I think about it, the more I agree with the article. I don't want my guests to walk away with some stupid random gift that they'll wind up throwing out on the way back to their cars.
The one thing I don't agree with is the opinion that writing your own vows is out. Stephen and I plan on writing our own vows. While watching someone stumble over their words can be awkward, watching someone deliver their vows perfectly can be magical. I think it all depends on the couple. Of course, Stephen and I plan to nail the vows... and we'll stick the landing.
